Frequently Asked Questions
Why the School of Supernatural Life?
Why SSL Live and SSL @ Home?
We appreciate that distance can be a barrier, and we have seen God work powerfully in and through people using Zoom technology. So we feel that this year is a great time to increase the reach of the School and give people the opportunity to journey with us in a live setting, but at home!
What can I expect of SSL?
What is the entrance criteria?
That you are hungry for more and willing to commit to a 9-month journey of discovery, encounter and adventure. Also that you are willing to have fun on the way as part of the SSL family. We have seen people from age 18 to 81 do SSL and love it! It is a great training to do as a gap year before going to university too.
What are the key dates and costs for the 2020-2021 year?
Is there an attendance allowance?
The journey is important to us, and for you to graduate from SSL you will need to complete the majority of the sessions including the Father Heart weekend (9th and 10th of October). We allow for a maximum of six missed sessions over the year. You will also need to complete the home studies each term and book reflections.
Can I come and see what SSL is like?
Yes, certainly. We run multiple taster nights which we advertise through the year. It is free to come and taste the SSL flavour! Please book in by the link provided or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org so we can organise refreshments and welcome you well!
What is the interview process?
After applying, we will arrange an interview with you for two of the team to get to know you, go over the expectations and the challenge of the course and then pray for and encourage you. Interviews are normally at the Ridgeway Centre but may also be over Zoom, Skype or Facetime.
Does it matter what church I am from?
You are welcome whether you are from another church in Milton Keynes, from further afield or not currently attending a church at all! SSL is a Christian ministry school of New Life Church Milton Keynes, but the team includes people from many churches in Milton Keynes, which we love and celebrate! We have a set of core values and are affiliated to the Bethel Ministry School whist being under the oversight of New Life Church Milton Keynes. We love the body of Christ and our passion is to serve and not compete, and to love our city into life!
What if my English or writing skills are not as strong?
We have had many students whose first language has not been English. All of the material and teaching will be in English but we also want to be as inclusive as possible so we can provide audio books and/or time extensions for the book reflections. Also some students have used artwork or other creative ways of describing their journey. Audio downloads and other resources are available on the student area of sslmk.org
